Abstract

Resesi pada ilmu ekonomi makro resesi atau yang sering disebut dengan kemerosotan, merupakan Produk Domestik Bruto atau GDP menurun ketika pertumbuhan ekonomi memiliki nilai negatif selama dua kuartal lebih, atau di dalam satu tahun. Resesi ini juga bisa mengakibatkan menurunya semua kegiatan ekonomi secara simultan, contohnya lapangan kerja, investasi, dan keuntungan perusahaan. Resesi juga akan diasosiasikan dengan menurunnya harga atau deflasi, atau bisa juga kebalikannya. Dengan meningkatnya harga dengan drastis atau inflasi, di dalam sebuah proses yang dinamakan stagflasi.Resesi ekonomi juga akan berjalan dalam waktu yang lama, yang dinamakan dengan depresi ekonomi. Penururan drastis dalam tingkat ekonomi ini seringkali disebabkan oleh depresi yang parah atau hiperinflasi.
