PERBAIKAN SIFAT FISIKA TANAH PERKEBUNAN KARET (Havea brasiliensis) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN TEKNIK BIOPORI

Abstract

Produktivitas karet dalam negeri (700-800 kg/ha/th) angka ini relatif rendah dibandingkan dengan negara-negara di Asia sebagai produsen karet seperti; Thailand (1.800kg/ha/th), Malaysia (1.200 kg/ha/th) dan India (2000 kg/ha/th)[1]. Penerapan teknik budidaya baik (Best Management Practices) dan benar mulai dari pemilihan klon bibit unggul dan pemeliharaan menjadi kunci keberhasilan pembudidayan karet di Indonesia. Tanaman karet umumnya lebih mempersyaratkan keadaan tanah dari sisi sifat fisiknya dibandingkan sifat kimianya. Hal ini disebabkan karena sifat fisik tanah relatif sulit diperbaiki dibandingkan dengan sifat kimia. Lubang biopori merupakan lubang vertikal ke dalam tanah yang berfungsi meningkatkan laju peresapan air hujan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan karet Desa Jaharun B Dusun V, Kecamatan Galang, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, pada bulan Februari sampai dengan Agustus 2017. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Non Faktorial dengan 4 perlakuan dosis serasah tanaman karet yaitu K1 : Kontrol, K2 : 3 kg, K3 : 3,5 kg, K4 : 4 kg. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan penempatan serasah karet secara biopori berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap perbaikan sifat fisika tanah untuk semua parameter pengamatan (Bulk Density, Permeabilitas dan Tekstur) dengan penambahan serasah karet sebanyak 4 kg.
