Mengembalikan Keistimewaan Nagari Di Minangkabau Pasca Pemberlakuan Otonomi Daerah

Abstract

Minangkabau merupakan salah satu diantara suku bangsa yang menempati wilayah bagian tengah pulau Sumatera. Sebagian besar orang Minangkabau menempati wilayah provinsi Sumatera Barat. Masyarakat Minangkabau merupakan etnik yang unik, walaupun adat istiadatnya berlandaskan pada syariat Islam yang patrilineal (keturunan berdasarkan garis ayah) tapi dalam masyarakatnya diterapkan sistem matrilineal (keturunan berdasarkan garis ibu), ini sesuatu yang sesungguhnya agak bertolak belakang. Dalam kehidupan sosial, keberadaan balai adat dan masjid merupakan dua institusi penting bahkan menjadi syarat untuk membentuk sebuah nagari. Keduanya menjadi simbol bagaimana masyarakat Minang mengintegrasikan dua norma yang berbeda dalam kehidupan sosial mereka “adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi kitabullah” (adat bersendi agama, agama bersendikan Al-Quran).
