Abstract

Estamos habituados a leer los informes mensuales del INDEC que dan cuenta de los aumentos de precios e interpretamos el significado de medir la inflación por la variación de los precios de un conjunto de bienes y servicios relevados para el cálculo del índice de Precios al consumidor (IPC). También leemos o escuchamos sobre el valor de la Canasta Básica Alimentaria (CBA) y la Canasta Básica Total (CBT) que permiten estimar lo que una familia, de acuerdo con su composición, requeriría mínimo para cubrir sus necesidades de consumo. Esos valores se calculan mensualmente teniendo en cuenta las modificaciones en los precios, aunque es posible que su correcta interpretación en este caso sea bastante menos intuitiva.
