Abstract

La Argentina se caracteriza por ser un país costero con un extenso litoral marítimo sobre el océano Atlántico sudoccidental, con importantes recursos pesqueros. La ciudad de Mar del Plata, ubicada a 400 Km. de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, es desde principios de siglo XX, el centro económico pesquero más importante de la Costa Atlántica de nuestro país, por el volumen desembarcado y el número de plantas en tierra. La relevancia de la pesca de captura marítima radica en la contribución al desarrollo de centros pesqueros localizados a lo largo del litoral marítimo, siendo ésta generadora de empleo y actividad económica local y, a nivel nacional, por su aporte en la generación de divisas a través de sus exportaciones (Ministerio de Hacienda, 2017).
