Abstract

The furniture industry in Mexico offers a comprehensive picture of the furniture sector in Mexico, providing trends in furniture production and consumption, furniture imports and exports. Factors determining the demand for furniture are examined, as well as furniture distribution and furniture supply structure. Mexican furniture production is broken down by sector (kitchen, office and other furniture), by State and by firm size. The Report also analyses the role of the Maquiladora industry in the country. The Report considers the factors driving the Mexican furniture consumption. Consumer prices, consumer's confidence index, private consumption expenditure are analysed. Figures about demand indicators (population, demographic rates) are available. Information about the housing and construction sectors are also provided. The analysis of furniture distribution channels covers: large non-specialised retailers, specialised retailers and furniture manufacturers' shops. Information about local magazines and fairs are also available. Mexican furniture exports and imports are broken down by country and product (office furniture, kitchen furniture, upholstered furniture, non-upholstered furniture, bedroom furniture, seats parts, parts of furniture). The wood and forestry sector is also considered: production, imports, exports and consumption data are provided for the main semi-finished wood products (sawnwood; wood-based panels), as well as investments in the wood processing industry. Woodworking machinery imports from the main partner countries are included. For selected leading companies a profile with contacts, main activity and other details (brands, sales, employees, exports, certification, if available) is given.
