Abstract

Top 50 players represent more than 85% of Russian production of lighting fixtures. The Russian market for lighting fixtures has undergone some significant changes in the past several years. These changes concerned the restructuring of the older established lighting manufacturers, renovations of the production processes, new entrants to the market and the overall double-digit annual growth rates in production, imports and consumption. This report offers a comprehensive picture of the lighting fixtures market in Russia, providing trends in lighting fixtures production and consumption, imports and exports. Data on the supply structure, distribution channels and reference prices are also provided, as well as sales data and market shares of the main players with short company profiles. The lighting fixtures market is broken down highlighting the two main market segments for lighting fixtures: decorative/residential lighting and non-residential lighting (architectural/commercial lighting, industrial lighting and outdoor lighting, altogether so-called Technical lighting). Data on decorative/residential lighting are broken down by style (traditional, modern, design) and by positioning of the lamp (floor, table, wall, ceiling lamps and suspensions), while data on architectural/commercial lighting are broken down by product (downlights, fluorescence systems, projectors, spotlights, entertainment lighting, decorative lighting for hotels and shops). Industrial lighting consists of lighting for industrial sites, marine, hospital and emergency lighting. Outdoor lighting includes residential outdoor lighting, lighting for urban landscape, Christmas lighting and lighting for major roads, galleries and sporting facilities. The breakdown of Russian lighting fixtures exports and imports is provided by country and by geographical area (Americas, Asia and Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, Other countries). A breakdown of lighting fixtures exports and imports is also provided by segment: residential lighting, commercial lighting, Christmas and traffic lighting, lighting fixtures components. A breakdown of light sources (incandescence traditional or halogen, fluorescence compact or linear, gas discharge, leds, fiber optics and other) and ballasts (electromagnetic or electronic) used by a sample of companies is also offered. Estimated number of employees in the Russian lighting fixtures market and average turnover per employee in a sample of companies is mentioned. Sales breakdown by distribution channel (direct sales/contract, lighting specialist retailers, small and large furniture chains, department stores, wholesalers) and by geographical region (Central, Siberian, Southern, Ural, Privolzhskly, North West and Far East) are provided for a sample of companies. Reference prices are given for the main lighting products in the segments of residential, commercial, industrial and outdoor lighting, in a sample of stores. A chapter of the report mentiones a number of exhibitions and shows that will take place in Russia in 2009, specialised and interior design magazines, internet portals and web sites for online shopping, dealing with the lighting fixtures sector. A section is dedicated to the competitive system, with data on lighting fixtures sales and market shares for the major lighting fixtures companies present in the Russian market, for each segment: residential lighting, commercial lighting, industrial lighting, outdoor lighting.
