Furniture distribution in the Netherlands
AbstractHome furniture consumption in the Netherlands recorded a total value of Euro 4.1 billion at retail prices. In the Netherlands the majority of home furniture sales are made through the specialist channel: the country is among the five European countries where specialist retailers have the largest market share. A typical distribution format is the boulevard, so called Woonboulevards when dealing with furnishings products. Among the most widespread franchises in Woonboulevards there are Bo Concept, Profijt and Piet Klerkx. Woonboulevards also include franchised sales outlets belonging to foreign groups or those that specialise in the sale of imported furniture, as Ligne Roset and Asian Living. The analysis of the home furniture retail industry in the Netherlands includes short profiles of major home furniture distributors with analyses of sales performances and retail formats (bedroom specialists, DIY, furniture discount stores, kitchen and bathroom specialists, large-scale furniture specialists, specialists in RTA furniture/jeune habitat). Analysis of home furniture imports by segment (upholstered furniture, non upholstered-seats, kitchen furniture, dining and living room furniture, bedroom furniture) and by country are also provided. Addresses of about 40 companies mentioned in the report are included.
