Untreated Maternal Mental Health Conditions in Texas: Costs to Society and to Medicaid

Abstract

Although maternal mental health conditions, which include depression and anxiety disorders during pregnancy and post-delivery, are common among Texas mothers, they often go undiagnosed and untreated. They exact a heavy toll on the economy and on maternal and child health and well-being in Texas.
