Privatization: Does Reality Match the Rhetoric?

Abstract

This lecture presents some of the lessons from formal research on ownership and privatization. In many cases, these lessons differ significantly from the rhetoric of privatization. Further experience with privatization, particularly in developed countries such as Australia, tends to corroborate these research findings.
