Abstract

Manuskriptet giver et overblik over udviklingen i lærlingeuddannelserne siden 1931. Udviklingen i slutningen af 1990-erne var meget gunstig, idet ca. 45 procent af en ungdomsårgang begyndte en lærlingeuddannelse. Det er den højeste registrerede andel over en længere årrække. Som følge af lavkonjunkturen faldt andelen fra 46 til 41 procent fra 2001 til 2002. Faldet på 5 procentpoint svarer til ca. 3.000 unge, som ikke kan få den uddannelse hos en arbejdsgiver, de ønsker sig. En kvantitativ analyse gennemføres for at spore effekterne af de forhold, som påvirker tilgangen af lærlinge. Der foretages en vurdering af forskellige løsningsforslag til afhjælpning af manglen på lærepladser.
