A Internacionalização do Sistema Bancário Brasileiro

Abstract

O objetivo desta pesquisa é examinar a inserção internacional do sistema bancário do Brasil, em cotejo com as experiências da Coreia do Sul e do México. Desde a segunda metade da década de 1990, estes países aprofundaram a integração financeira de suas economias, mediante atração de fluxos expressivos de investimento direto externo (IDE) financeiro - associada à remoção de restrições à entrada de instituições bancárias estrangeiras - e expansão da presença de bancos domésticos no exterior. O texto discute também as implicações e perspectivas da internacionalização do sistema bancário brasileiro. The purpose of this research is to examine the international insertion of Brazilian banking system, in comparison with the South Korean and Mexican experiences. Since the second half of the 1990s, these countries deepened the financial integration between their economies and international markets, both through the attraction of expressive flows of FDI by removing restrictions for foreign banking institutions and through the expansion overseas those country`s banks. The text also discusses the implications of and perspectives for the internationalization of the banking system, with emphasis on Brazil.
