Abstract

Este análisis presenta un diagnóstico y señala los principales desafíos y alternativas de política que Costa Rica ha de enfrentar en la actual coyuntura en relación con su proceso de integración económica con el mundo. También se señalan posibles apoyos del Banco para abordar algunos de esos desafíos a través de sus instrumentos financieros y no financieros. En los años noventa, Costa Rica necesitó de la integración centroamericana para traer paz a la región. Hoy la necesita para traer desarrollo económico. Es el momento de dar ese paso = This analysis points at the main challenges and policy alternatives faced by Costa Rica in relation to its current economic integration process in the world. Some possible alternatives for Bank support through its financial and non financial instruments are also identified. During the nineties, Costa Rica used Central American integration as a tool to bring peace to the region; today it is needed to bring about economic development = Esta analises menciona os principais desafios e alternativas de política enfrentados por Costa Rica em relaçao ao seu processo de integraçao econômica na economia global. Algumas possibilidades para apoio do banco através de instrumentos financeiros e nao financeiros sao identificados.
