    Abstract

    En el presente documento se efectúa una descripción de los principales aspectos institucionales del MERCOSUR: su estructura orgánica, la forma de creación y puesta en práctica de las normas cuatripartitas y los mecanismos diseñados para la resolución de los conflictos que surgen dentro del proceso de integración. Asimismo, se realiza una evaluación de su funcionamiento, identificándose los puntos débiles sobre los que se estima se debería avanzar, y se realizan algunas propuestas que permitirían el fortalecimiento institucional del bloque = The paper presents a description of the main institutional aspects of MERCOSUR, namely: its structure, the setting up and creation of subregional norms and mechanisms designed for the resolution of conflicts arising within the integration process. A performance assessment and identification of weaknesses is made; and some proposals, which would allow for the institutional strengthening of the bloc, are presented
