Abstract

A pesar de que en los gobiernos de América Latina y el Caribe la educación tiene un lugar fundamental para el bienestar económico, social y político de sus naciones, en todos los niveles de la sociedad permea la percepción de que los sistemas educativos son débiles. En consecuencia, los autores de políticas públicas han respondido a las demandas de calidad y equidad educativa, que en los últimos diez años han tenido resonancia en todo el hemisferio occidental, mediante una serie de reformas educativas, algunas de las cuales han tenido éxito.
