Abstract

"For the year 2021, we expect employment to grow and unemployment to fall compared to 2020. Coupled with continued economic growth, the number of employed is forecast to increase further in all federal states in 2022, with higher rates of growth in West compared to East Germany. The forecasts also predict a reduction in the number of unemployed in the coming year. In all federal states, the larger part of this reduction is due to a decrease in the number of unemployed that are covered by the unemployment insurance scheme. We further expect that in the year 2022 the annual average of employment will be above and the annual average of unemployment will be below their 2019 levels in approximately 40 percent of regional employment agencies."
