Abstract

"In Germany, to qualify for unemployment benefits one currently has to have worked 12 out of 24 months before losing a job. Thus, while paying unemployment insurance contributions, for individuals with short employment periods it might prove difficult to qualify for such benefits. The paper estimates the mechanical effects of a modification scheduled for 2020 as well as further potential changes in regulations." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
