Abstract

"In 2012 unemployment in Germany entailed a total expense in the amount of EUR 53.8 bn for the Federal government, state governments, municipalities and the social insurance system. This equated to about 2.0 percent of the German gross domestic product (GDP). Ten years earlier this figure was 4.3 percent of the GDP, respectively EUR 91.5 bn."
