Bostäder, befolkningstillväxt och byggande sedan 1950

Abstract

Den här artikeln är ett delresultat i ett projekt som bl.a. studerar bostadsbristens orsaker och konsekvenser. I artikeln studeras samspelet mellan byggande och befolkningstillväxt under de senaste knappa 70 åren. Möjligen kan vi lära oss något om hur mycket byggande som krävs i förhållande till befolkningsökning, genom att studera hur sambandet faktiskt har sett ut. Det är intressant att studera sambandet mellan befolkningsökning och byggande eftersom byggandet ofta står i centrum i debatten om bostadsbrist. På ett sätt kan det tyckas vara paradoxalt eftersom nybyggda bostäder utgör så begränsad del av bostadsbeståndet, medan det å andra sidan också är en logisk koppling då byggandet förstås ökar antalet bostäder och därmed borde minska eventuell bostadsbrist, i varje fall i fall man tänker sig att bostadsbrist främst handlar om antal bostäder.
