Abstract

In the last ten years, Van Parijs (1995) and Kolm (2005) have played a great part in renewing the ethical and philosophical foundations of fiscal systems. Everyone got his own way, either for giving a legitimate financing to the "basic income" project (Van Parijs) or for treating the question of "macrojustice" by "equal labour income equalization" (Kolm). Through his distributive scheme, each of them is developing a deep reflection on liberty, "real freedom" for the first one and "social freedom" for the second one. How much those two ideas are compatible and could even converge ought to be a major field of research in the next years.
