Household budget and Food Consumption Score at KIBUMBA (North - Kivu, DRC)[Budget ménager et Score de consommation alimentaire à Kibumba (Nord- Kivu, RDC)]

The concepts of household income, consumption and food security are today the subject of various studies in several fields, notably in economics, statistics, sociology, demography and many others. The conceptual debate that these studies arouse comes up again and again, in colloquia and seminars and is found in articles and books, given its importance. This article deals with the household budget and food consumption score in rural areas in general and specifically at KIBUMBA, with the aim of identifying strategies that can lead to the establishment of a climate of food security in the study environment. After calculation, it has been seen that the inhabitants of KIBUMBA have an average score of 42.46; which remains below the acceptable food consumption score (42.5). In this study we used the ordinary least square method to analyze the dependence of this score. There are found firstly that the household food expenses influence positively the level of food consumption score, in such a way that if those expenses will increase a currency (dollar), the food consumption score household varies from 0.222018. On the other hand, the household size negatively affects the household food consumption score (FCS), in the sense that when the household size increases of an individual, the food consumption score ranges from -0.39.
