Abstract

Although the volume of petroleum products moved between the major refining and consuming regions is much less than that of crude oil, these movements play a key role in the supply demand balance of the various products. The Asia/Pacific region (South and Souh·East Asia and the Far East) is a significant importer whose dependence for oil products supplies on the Arabian/Iranian Gulf is growing. This paper reviews the current position on products movement and the growth in products demand, and highlights the strong interdependence between the Asia/Pacific and Gulf regions in terms of refining.
