Abstract

Soulever cette question dans un colloque relatif à la pauvreté rurale, c'est laisser supposer que les petits paysans font partie des pauvres. Il existe effectivement des formes de pauvreté dans ce groupe social ; on y observe tout au moins des infériorités de degré élevé et de caractère chronique. Nombre de petits paysans sont situés durablement très bas dans l'échelle sociale, ce qui peut inciter à 1es ranger dans la catégorie des pauvres à vie". cette situation ne date donc pas des années les plus récentes ; tout laisse penser que les petits agriculteurs ont relativement peu bénéficié des accroissements de revenus de la période antérieure de grande prospérité.
