Abstract

La recherche économique et sociale s'est peu intéressée jusqu'à présent aux conditions de travail en agriculture. Aussi seulement quelques études partielles ont-elles été consacrées à la sécurité dans le travail. Cependant, l'objectif d'une "agriculture sans accident" est loin d'être atteint : au cours de l'année 1977, il y a eu 223 418 accidents chez les non-salariés et 40 437 chez les salariés. Mais il s'agit là d'un total où tous les niveaux de gravité sont confondus, qui inclut les "bénins" (ceux qui ne donnent pas lieu à arrêt de travail). Pour apprécier le degré de sécurité du travail en agriculture, il faut faire des analyses qui prennent systématiquement en compte les divers niveaux de gravité et qui traitent plus particulièrement des accidents "graves", c'est-à-dire, selon l'acception usuelle, ceux qui entraînent la mort ou une incapacité permanente de travail.
