Abstract

Il 2018, apertosi in Italia con la vittoria di Movimento 5 Stelle e Lega alle elezioni politiche, in Francia si è chiuso con le proteste dei gilet gialli che, sia pur in modo confuso e a volte contraddittorio, hanno tentato, almeno in un primo momento, di portare avanti rivendicazioni di maggiore giustizia sociale e di uno Stato che torni a proteggere le classi più sfavorite. L'avanzata dei populisti in Italia e in altri Paesi, il successo di partiti di estrema destra, le proteste di piazza francesi, ma anche la Brexit e il successo di Donald Trump negli Stati Uniti, sono tutti fenomeni fortemente radicati nei rispettivi contesti storici e istituzionali. Tuttavia, al di là delle ovvie differenze, hanno un filo rosso che li lega, rappresentato dalla crisi dei partiti moderati, siano essi una socialdemocrazia ormai ridotta ai minimi termini, o una destra sociale che sopravvive solo dove rincorre i populisti di destra.
