Abstract

La notion de valeur humaine est envisagée dans ce numéro d'Incidence comme l'un des opérateurs par lesquels la société, à travers un certain nombre d'instances spécifiques, s'autorise à placer en comparaison les unes avec les autres des personnes et des populations, et à établir entre elles des hiérarchisations. Ces opérations de mesure peuvent préluder à des logiques de préférence, de discrimination, de priorisation dans l'allocation de ressources limitées, voire de sélection, déterminantes pour le destin des unes et des autres. Se trouve ainsi posée la question de la justice distributive et, plus profondément, de la détermination des principes qui fondent ou légitiment l'ordre social. La différenciation des statuts du travail en contexte esclavagiste et colonial, les tris eugénistes, les variations sur le thème du "capital humain", mais aussi la psychotechnique, l'évaluation professionnelle et le diagnostic médical comptent parmi les champs d'application de la mesure de la valeur humaine qui seront abordés ici.
