Abstract

Au dernier recensement de la population en 2008, l'Île-de-France, qui occupe à peine 2 % de la superficie de la France métropolitaine, regroupait 19 % de sa population et produisait 29 % de son produit intérieur brut. La productivité du travail y était aussi plus élevée qu'ailleurs, puisque le salaire net mensuel moyen d'un Francilien s'élevait alors à 2 565 €, soit 28,5 % de plus que la moyenne de la métropole. Le leadership francilien semble tel qu'il suscite des inquiétudes et avive le débat sur la pseudocroissance des inégalités entre territoires. Le dossier que nous proposons vise à comprendre l'origine de l'hypertrophie parisienne et à montrer que, contrairement à une idée préconçue, elle ne s'est pas accentuée sur la période récente.
