Abstract

L'exploitation des enquêtes Eurobaromètres de la Commission européenne, réalisées deux fois par an depuis les années 1970, et des enquêtes d'opinion de la DICoD (MinArm) sur longue période, permet d'appréhender l'évolution du sentiment des citoyens sur leur armée et leur opinion au sujet de la politique de défense européenne. C'est au Royaume-Uni et en France que l'armée bénéficie du plus grand capital de confiance. La Politique de Sécurité et de Défense Commune (PSDC) acquiert quant à elle la faveur de près des trois quarts des Européens interrogés au printemps 2015. Concernant la politique de défense française, la récente montée des menaces et les attentats terroristes survenus sur le territoire français ou dans des pays voisins conduit les Français à juger la situation sécuritaire actuelle comme largement propice à une augmentation du budget français de la défense.
