Abstract

No other region in France or even in Europe has a project on the same scale as the Grand Paris Express (GPE). This new transport infrastructure project in the heart of the Île-de-France region is presented as not only promoting the dynamism and attractiveness of Paris, but also as being beneficial to all French regions. But does the GPE correspond to the needs of the people of Ile-de-France? Can its demographic equation be easily solved? Finally, after the Covid-19 pandemic and its geographical effects, is the GPE more justified than ever, or is it wrong in terms of regional planning?
