Abstract

This article analyzes valuation practices in the financialized real estate sector, which has been developing since the 1990s. Based on a one-year ethnography in an leading real estate consulting firm, it shows that these practices rely on an institutional architecture that participates in the reinforcement and legitimization of asset managers' accumulation processes.
