Infrastructures, investissement et croissance: nouvelles évidences empiriques

Abstract

Dans cet article, nous validons quantitativement par la méthode des triples moindres carrés un modèle qui formalise le lien entre infrastructures, investissement et croissance sur un échantillon de 87 pays. Nous introduisons pour cela un indicateur agrégé d'infrastructures calculé à partir de l'analyse en composantes principales de plusieurs indicateurs d'infrastructures physiques, sociales et financières. Nous mettons tout d'abord en évidence le double canal de transmission des effets des infrastructures sur la croissance. Le premier passe par l'accroissement des capacités de production et fait apparaître une complémentarité entre investissement public et investissement privé. Le second transite par la productivité globale des facteurs. Nos estimations signalent, en outre, un impact prépondérant du développement financier, de même que de l'éducation primaire et de la santé pour le décollage des économies.
