Abstract

El Área Metropolitana de Monterrey ha experimentado durante las últimas dos décadas una rápida y radical transición económica acompañada de una transformación de sus modos de vida tradicionales. Este libro busca contribuir al conocimiento de dicho fenómeno partiendo de una hipótesis: la manera como se articulen los recursos tradicionales y los nuevos - las prácticas sociales heredades por la historia industrial de Monterrey y las prácticas sociales emergentes -, es la clave para comprender adecuadamente el "desarrollo" que se está produciendo actualmente en esta zona del mundo. En esta publicación se resume el trabajo multidisciplinario e interinstitucional que durante cuatro años (2006-2010), realizó un amplio grupo de investigadores y estudiantes de posgrado de Monterrey y de Aix-en-Provence dentro de un programa de cooperación científica internacional. Por la parte francesa se reúnen los esfuerzos de la Universidad de Provence (Aix-Marseille 1), el Laboratoire d`Economie et Sociologie du Travail (LEST_CNRS) y el Centro de Estudios Mexicanos y Centroamericanos. De Monterrey participan las principales instituciones de educación superior e investigación regional: UANL, El Colef, UDEM, ITESM, CIESAS y la Normal Miguel F. Martínez.
