Abstract

"Dans le Traité d'Économie Politique et dans le Cours Complet d'Économie Politique, Jean-Baptiste Say développe une argumentation critique à l'égard des corporations et autres règlements de l'industrie. Selon lui, ces réglementations sont des barrières à la liberté d'entreprendre et au progrès des arts. Elles sont presque toujours des outils d'oppression à la fois individuelle et collective et sources de nombreux maux économiques, sociaux et politiques. Dans cet article, nous détaillons l'argumentation de Say à l'encontre des corporations et montrons qu'elle s'inscrit dans un cadre plus général, celui de l'influence des institutions sur l'économie des sociétés et des machines sur le commerce. Son analyse critique permet ainsi d'introduire sa conception d'une nécessaire libération des forces productives, laquelle suppose la création d'un cadre favorable à la liberté d'entreprendre et un épanouissement des forces productives (les machines), qui sont autant de fondements de son Économie politique."
