Abstract

The analysis of the attractiveness of territories seems evident if one believes the two models in vogue to describe it: the center-periphery model and that of the residential economy. However, a fine geographical analysis, conducted on comparable cities in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, both invalidates them. It highlights a typology that distinguishes five types of attractiveness. The diversity of the situations analyzed suggests that there is no reason why the lessons of this study are not valid in other territories of France, Europe or the World.
