Abstract

Everyone on the Stage! How Can Theatre Help Train Executives? Everyone on the Stage! How Can Theatre Help Train Executives? Based on an actual case study of a leading European transportation company, this article illustrates how theatre can be used as an original active training method for executives. The case presents the development, implementation and content of a theatre-based training program in a company. A summary is then given of the advantages of using theatre as a training method, including participants' positive reaction to the enhancement of their self-knowledge and self-esteem and the improvement of their aptitudes, interpersonal skills and behaviour. Finally, the case makes suggestions aimed at maximizing the benefits of the theatre-based management training method, including clearly defining the training objectives, seeking the support of top management, planning resources, limiting the size of training groups and, finally, choosing instructors with care. Resumen. A raíz de un estudio de caso realizado sobre una experiencia real llevada a cabo por una gran empresa de transporte europea, se muestra que el teatro brinda un marco activo y original para la formación del personal ejecutivo. En el presente artículo se presenta la elaboración, la introducción y el contenido de la capacitación por medio del teatro dentro de la empresa. Entre las ventajas del teatro como método formativo se destacan las reacciones positivas de los participantes en cuanto a un mejor conocimiento de sí mismos y una mayor autoestima, un incremento de saberes, mejores habilidades interpersonales y comportamientos. Para concluir, se sugieren consejos para optimizar los efectos del teatro como método de formación gerencial: definir claramente los objetivos de la capacitación, solicitar el apoyo de la alta dirección, planificar los recursos, limitar el número de participantes en cada grupo y prestar particular atención a la selección de los formadores.
