Le design science dans le domaine des systèmes d'information : mise en débat et perspectives

Abstract

L'objectif de cet article est de mettre en lumière l'approche du design science qui connaît aujourd'hui un intérêt grandissant dans de nombreuses revues et conférences européennes et nord-américaines. Peu utilisée à l'heure actuelle dans les travaux francophones, nous avons choisi de mettre en perspective cette approche en approfondissant ses apports mais aussi ses limites. Dans cette perspective, un effort tout particulier portera sur la mise en évidence des fondements et des principales caractéristiques du design science en SI. Nous nous attacherons ensuite à mettre en exergue les controverses qui animent cette approche. Convaincue de l'apport du design science à la discipline SI, nous proposerons dans une discussion des voies de réflexion et des pistes de solution pour veiller à ce que le design science respecte la promesse qu'il s'est fixer, renforcer la création de connaissances théoriques et améliorer les pratiques en SI.
