Abstract

he financial crisis of 2007 has given numerous opportunities for research. However, the movement of FDI has remained unexplored. This article studies the impact of the crisis of 2007 on the qualitative and quantitative movement of outward U.S. FDI. Using linear cluster analyss, this research shows that there is a relationship between the nominal GDP and U.S. FDI outflows to the destination such as Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia. On the other hand, the results show that after 2007, U.S. FDI destinations changed by focusing on the richest and the less risky countries.
