Abstract

Cette note part de la question suivante: si une firme est plus efficace qu'une autre, a-t-elle pour autant intérêt à se lancer dans une guerre de prix? Nous utilisons un modèle simple de duopole pour approfondir cette question en tirant parti principalement du concept de barrière de mobilité. Nous montrons alors que quelques éléments tels que la position de coût relatif, la taille et le degré de captivité des marchés ainsi que l'élasticité globale de la demande au prix peuvent jouer un rôle important. Une première réflexion quant au rôle du temps est ébauchée à partir d'une analyse de statistique comparative.
