Abstract

Die Debatte über die Rentenreform in Deutschland steht seit mehreren Jahren im Zeichen der Generationengerechtigkeit. Dabei spielt die Rentenanpassungsformel eine entscheidende Rolle für die langfristige finanzielle Lage der gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung sowie für die Lastenverteilung zwischen den Generationen. Aufgrund eines „kommutativen" Ansatzes der Generationengerechtigkeit und angesichts der höheren Rendite, die der privaten kapitalgedeckten Altersvorsorge zugeschrieben wird, ist die betriebene Rentenanpassungspolitik so konzipiert worden, dass nur eine Senkung des Rentenniveaus innerhalb der Gesetzlichen Rentenversicherung (GRV) einen Beitrag zur Generationengerechtigkeit zu leisten vermag. Hauptanliegen dieses Artikels ist es, die Grundlage und die Auswirkungen dieser in Deutschland vorherrschenden These zu prüfen und ein alternatives Verständnis der Generationengerechtigkeit und ihrer Folgen für die Rentenanpassungspolitik vorzustellen.
