Abstract

L'analyse des systèmes d'approvisionnement en eau des mégapoles indiennes (Bangalore, Mumbaï et Chennai) a mis en évidence des contraintes sur la ressource qui pourraient être en partie surmontées avec des institutions plus efficaces. On s'attache plus particulièrement ici à définir le contenu de la demande en eau urbaine et périurbaine et les éléments de sa dynamique. La complexité de la demande en eau des mégapoles justifie une représentation qui permette de spécifier ses différentes composantes. Deux dimensions principales de la demande en eau sont mises en avant : la diversité des modes d'usage (ou sectorialisation) et la dimension spatiale (ou territorialisation). On propose dans ce chapitre une modélisation (WATER_UP) visant à caractériser la demande en eau des mégapoles selon ces différentes dimensions et à expliciter des facteurs d'évolution à moyen terme.
