Abstract

La modernisation du travail viticole et le coût du bois ont presque banni toute utilisation de ce dernier. Le palissage en fil de fer, l'utilisation de pressoirs pneumatiques ou encore la disparition des artisans tonneliers, autrefois si nombreux dans le vignoble, ont écarté le bois. Et surtout, la lutte pour accéder à une plus grande qualité s'est faite au détriment du bois : il fallait régler le douloureux problème du stockage des vins en s'affranchissant des barriques, par ailleurs si coûteuses.
