Abstract

La démocratie est certainement le fil conducteur de l'œuvre, a priori éparse, de l'économiste et philosophe Amartya Sen. Il fait partie des auteurs qui défendent la démocratie en termes de "débat public", et pas seulement d'élections libres. Cet ouvrage court, à l'orientation grand public, n'en est pas moins le fruit d'une longue réflexion sur la nature des institutions démocratiques. Il se veut une réponse à ceux qui pensent que la démocratie est une valeur occidentale.
