Abstract

At the outset of this research there has been an assessment of the role of women's private money (sifangqian 私房錢) in China, which showed that a low social status does not prevent the emergence of an economic space of their own and in which they could demonstrate a high degree of economic empowerment. This paper intends to go a step further to better understand their economic space in modern and contemporay China.
