Abstract

Face au deuil, la confiance que place la famille du défunt dans le professionnel des pompes funèbres devrait être inscrite au sein de la relation. Qu'en est-il empiriquement ? Sur la base d'un travail d'enquête auprès des professionnels du marché, l'analyse des dimensions et enjeux spécifiques engagés dans la relation entre les opérateurs funéraires et leurs clients nous conduit à observer un mode de relations, sous contrainte et asymétriques. Nous désignons cette relation de "confiance par contrainte", conduisant la famille à s'appuyer sur d'autres supports de type réglementaire, institutionnel et de réputation afin de réduire les risques associés à une crise de confiance.
