Abstract

Peut-on comprendre le processus de recrutement des étudiants en gestion à l'aune de l'idéal-type défini dans le Nouvel Esprit du Capitalisme ? N'est-ce pas là un moyen d'interroger l'évolution de ce texte, majeur, 20 ans après sa sortie ? À partir de l'étude du processus de recrutement d'un IAE, nous mettons au jour une incarnation contrastée de l'idéal-type promu dans le livre de Boltanski et Chiapello (1999). À l'épreuve de la grandeur, le concours, bien qu'ouvert à tous, favorise déjà des profils conformes à l'idéal-type. Toutefois, l'exigence du sacrifice (particulièrement la mobilité) semble nuancer ce résultat. Ces conclusions incitent à questionner les pratiques de sélection des étudiants.
