Abstract

Les émotions constituent une source potentielle de mobilisation de l'action en faveur de la mitigation du climat. La colère (notamment celle de la génération « Greta ») ou la peur (véhiculée en particulier par la « collapsologie » ou les réseaux sociaux) semblent avoir de l'impact sur la façon dont les individus perçoivent le réchauffement climatique et s'y adaptent. Mais, qu'en est-il de l'espoir ? L'espoir correspond à une catégorie d'émotions particulière qui, au même titre que la peur, décrit les émotions suscitées par la pensée de ce qui est susceptible d'arriver. Pour un individu, l'espoir comporte à la fois un désir (un but ou un objectif), une probabilité d'obtention de cet objectif et la conscience que, le succès étant incertain, il est nécessaire de guider l'espoir (en s'en donnant les moyens) pour atteindre ce désir. L'espoir (ou le désespoir) a-t-il en conséquence un impact sur la façon dont les individus perçoivent les effets du changement climatique et s'y adaptent en changeant (ou non) leurs attitudes ou leurs comportements ?
