Abstract

Changes in the external environment call for new approaches to manage innovation processes using external sources of innovation. This paper explores the characteristics of collaborative relationships between universities and industry, as well as administrative instruments promoting the collaboration in China. Basing on illustration of Chinese innovation model evolution, the analysis demonstrates financial, legal and information-based tools promoting university-industry collaboration. According to the main issues concerning the Chinese university-industry collaboration, we illustrate the balance between administrative role and market power in the management of this kind of cooperation. We also underline the potential adjustments according to different situations of the Chinese innovation system.
