Abstract

Sustainable finance and its EU regulation are both criticized for numerous reasons. This contribution provides first some theoretical perspective to describe in detail how sustainable finance has so far missed its targets. Second this contribution proposes some legal and empirical elements to explain how EU regulation answers to the problems of sustainable finance. This contribution displays some empirical results about circular economy. In the third part and conclusion, further research questions are discussed to suggest how EU regulation could unlock the potential of sustainable finance to develop this economy.
