Festas mundias e estratégias metropolitanas. O Fórum universal das culturas 2004 em Barcelona

Abstract

As festas turísticas mundiais conhecem mutações significativas sob o efeito da mundialização. Elas afetam as culturas, os comportamentos dos participantes e as novas intenções dos atores do projeto. O Fórum Universal das Culturas organizado em Barcelona durante o verão de 2004 pela Municipalidade e Generalidade, pelo Governo espanhol e pela UNESCO testemunham a hibridação que as festas mundiais conhecem em sua forma e conteúdo. As festas gigantes devem corresponder a numerosas expectativas que a sua visitação e as reações suscitadas durante e após sua realização às vezes colocam em cheque. Isso se deve aos fundamentos frágeis de sua justificação e à instalação de um mundo exterior que faz sentir sua presença mesmo no interior da zona pagante da festa mundial. Um novo espaço público e uma nova identidade cultural resultam da sacralização festiva quase paga de uma periferia urbana degradada. O Fórum de Barcelona serve de referência a uma urbanidade barcelonesa em plena recomposição e que duvida de seu futuro. Entre processos de esquecimento, legado urbano e dívida orçamentária, a festa gigante europeia tende a tornar-se uma operação de marketing e de comunicação para bases ideológico-simbólicas frágeis.
