Abstract

The article focuses on digital pollution, a phenomenon that includes all environmental pollution generated by digital activities. This is currently responsible for 2.5% of greenhouse gas emissions in France, an environmental impact that continues to grow with the digital transformation of our society. This article aims to explore possible regulatory solutions to lead companies to consider the environmental impact of digital technology and modify their practices. More specifically, it is proposed to integrate the risks of digital pollution in the governance of companies. In this respect, the duty of due diligence appears as a regulatory tool to be mobilized to reduce digital pollution. The article proposes a reflection on what could be a duty of vigilance for companies.
